Anthony Morado Sr. joined the Houston Fire Department shortly after graduating high school in 1974. He proudly served for 38 years, climbing the ranks and retiring as a Sr. Captain at Station 7 in 2012. The hard worker that he was, he also managed a 28 year career with FedEx, retiring in 2010. Anthony continued to help people in need, not only family and friends but also his community as he became a dedicated volunteer for the Red Cross Organization. He also had several hobbies. Anyone that knew Anthony knew him to be an avid Harley Davidson motorcycle rider, a collecter of vintage cars and trucks and he also enjoyed traveling. He visited numerous baseball parks and loved going to see his Astros during spring training. He was a loving Dad, Grandpa and friend that all of us could count on, no matter what.
Shortly after retiring from the fire department, Anthony was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis. He received a double lung transplant in 2013 and did remarkably well. In 2019, he was diagnosed with bladder cancer and again went through life changing treatments to try and fight this. Our family understands the emotional and financial strain caring for a loved one under these conditions can be. We were fortunate to have so much family and friends support which allowed us to spend as much time as we could with our father. We established The Captain Anthony Morado Sr. Helping Hands Foundation in order to continue his legacy of "Helping Others" that find themselves in this similar situation.
OUR MISSION
The Captain Anthony Morado Sr. Helping Hands Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization, founded in 2020 after the passing of our father Sr. Captain Anthony Morado. in order to continue his legacy of Helping Others that find themselves in this similar situation. The primary focus of the foundation is to provide immediate financial assistance to both Retired and Active Houston Firefighters as well as their families and support systems during times of need related to health challenges such as those Anthony faced. Cancer, chronic conditions, transplants, accidents or even affects related to the pandemic are all life altering. We want to help with some of the unexpected expenses that arise when dealing with these situations, such as meals, parking fees, temporary room & board etc.
Sr. Captain Morado dearly loved his family, his 38-year career with the fire department and most of all
helping others. Our mission is to honor all those who selflessly put their life in harm’s way in their time
of need, provide a support system and help as many families as we can.
HOW WE CAN HELP?
Through individual donations, corporate sponsorships and fundraiser events, we will build the foundation to be able to meet our mission of helping retired and active firefighters and their families with financial assistance for things such as:

Meals during stays, receiving treatments, or during a quarantine

Parking and transportation to and from hospital or treatments

Room and board if staying at a medical facility for long periods of time

Aftercare assistance for retired and active firefighters
